Lady Gaga Contact Lens Trend, Raise Fears

Lady Gaga's accidentally sparked trend, the bizarre-looking contact lenses, might leave her fans blind, fear doctors.

Since the day, the pop superstar wowed fans with her broad and bright-colored eyes in her Bad Romance video; fans are plainly going gaga trying to imitate the look, bringing in special 'Circle' contact lenses from Asia.

But using lenses without prescription could prove to be extremely harmful in the long run, dread specialists.

"Consumers risk significant eye injuries, even blindness when they buy contact lenses without a valid prescription or help from an eye professional", Karen Riley, a Spokeswoman for the Food and Drug Administration in the US, claims.

People selling circle lenses online are encouraging the dodging of professional care, Dr. Barry Eiden, Chairman of the contact lens and cornea section of the American Optometric Association said.

He also warned that the ill-fitting contact lenses could limit the amount of oxygen in the eye and result in causing grave vision problems.

However, there are some, who wear circle lenses almost every day, Joyce Kim, a founder of Soompi. com, an Asian pop fan site with a forum dedicated to circle lenses, asserts.
